Biar Bumi Akan Berlalu…

Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

How To Be Happy

January 11th, 2007 by florence8998

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help. —Psalm 146

Everyone wants to be happy. But many fail in their quest to find that elusive prize because they are looking in the wrong places.

Proverbs 16:20 tells us, “Whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” And Psalm 146:5 indicates that happiness comes to those who find their help and hope in God.

The foundation for happiness is a proper relationship with the Lord. But to fully experience that happiness, we must build on that foundation in practical ways. I found this list of Ten Rules for Happier Living:

  1. Give something away.
  2. Do a kindness.
  3. Give thanks always.
  4. Work with vim and vigor.
  5. Visit the elderly and learn from their experience.
  6. Look intently into the face of a baby and marvel.
  7. Laugh often—it’s life’s lubricant.
  8. Pray to know God’s way.
  9. Plan as though you will live forever—you will.
  10. Live as though today is your last day on earth.

These are excellent ideas for living a happy life. Undergird each of these rules with praise, and your happiness will be complete. “Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord” (Ps. 146:1-2). Richard De Haan

Happiness is to know the Savior,

A Fitting Present

December 27th, 2006 by florence8998

A little boy was somewhat perplexed by all the exchanging of presents on Christmas morning, for he had been taught in Sunday school that it was the birthday of the Savior. Finally, after a long period of silence, he asked, “Mommy, when are we going to give Jesus His present? I thought it was His birthday!”

Strange, isn’t it, that most of us give gifts to everyone but the One whose birthday we celebrate. A good question we might ask ourselves is this: What am I going to give to the Lord Jesus this Christmas? If you have never trusted in Him as your Savior, the thing He desires most from you is a believing heart. Why not put your faith in Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross so you can be saved from your sins?

If by faith you already know Christ as your Savior, then the most wonderful thing you can do this Christmas is to present to God the one gift He most desires to receive from you—your body (Rom. 12:1).

Our bodies are to be used for God’s purposes. Because we have accepted the gift of salvation from Him, it’s only reasonable that we should present ourselves to the Father. When we give ourselves, we give the one Christmas present that truly fits the occasion!

What shall I give for Christmas
To Him who gave Himself for me?
To Him I give my life, my love,
For time and for eternity.  —Anon.

Give your all to Christ; He gave His all for you.

Peace In The Storm

Peace In The Storm

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. —Isaiah 26:3

Life can seem unbearable at times.  Physical pain, difficult decisions, financial hardships, the death of a loved one, or shattered dreams threaten to engulf us. We become fearful and perplexed. Plagued by doubts, we may even find it difficult to pray.

Those of us who know the Lord through personal faith in Christ have in Him a calm retreat in the storms of life, even while the howling winds of trial are sweeping over us. We can experience peace of mind and calmness of spirit.

Richard Fuller, a 19th-century minister, told of an old seaman who said, "In fierce storms, we must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there." Said Fuller, "This, Christian, is what you must do. . . . You must put your soul in one position and keep it there. You must stay upon the Lord; and, come what may—winds, waves, cross seas, thunder, lightning, frowning rocks, roaring breakers—no matter what, you must hold fast your confidence in God’s faithfulness and His everlasting love in Christ Jesus."

Do you feel overwhelmed by your troubles? Learn a lesson from that old sailor. Fix your mind on the Lord. Ask for His help. Then trust Him to give you peace in your storm (Phil. 4:6-7). Richard De Haan

Stayed upon Jehovah,
Hearts are fully blest—
Finding, as He promised,
Perfect peace and rest.  —Havergal

The secret of peace is to give every anxious care to God.

For The Poor

October 18th, 2006 by florence8998

Open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land. —Deuteronomy 15:11

The man sits on the street corner day after day, begging for money. He’s poor and desperate for a little cash to spend on food.

He’s not alone. More than one-half of the world’s people live below the internationally defined poverty line of less than $2.00 a day. Poverty and hunger are such a big problem in our world that it’s easy for us to feel helpless or to become hard-hearted and do nothing.

But God doesn’t close His eyes to the plight of the poor. When He gave His people guidelines for living, He included instructions on ways to care for the needy (Deut. 15:11). He told His people, “You shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand, from your poor brother, [but] open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need” (vv.7-8).

God also commanded His people not to glean the corners of their fields so that the less fortunate could gather food (Lev. 19:9-10). And Jesus showed His compassion for the poor by His words and actions.

As Christians, we cannot ignore the plight of the poor today. Individuals and churches can join with Christian organizations working to combat poverty as they spread the Word. God has a heart for the poor. Do we? —Anne Cetas

The poor and needy everywhere
Are objects of God’s love and care,
But they will better know His care
As we seek ways that love to share.  —D. De Haan

Guardian Angel

Diana, seorang mahasiswi, sedang liburan musim panas. Suatu sore, dia
mengunjungi beberapa temannya.

tinggal hanya beberapa blok saja. Ketika dia

mulai berdoa, meminta perlindungan Tuhan.

sedang dibuatnya. "Hai jam, apakah kamu sanggup untuk berdetak
paling tidak 31,104,000 kali selama setahun?" "Ha?," kata jam
terperanjat, "Mana sanggup saya?"

"Bagaimana kalau 86,400 kali dalam sehari?" "Delapan puluh enam
ribu empat ratus kali?

"Kalau begitu, sanggupkah kamu berdetak satu kali
setiap detik?" "Naaaa, kalau begitu, aku sanggup!" kata jam
dengan penuh antusias.

Maka, setelah selesai dibuat, jam itu berdetak satu kali
setiap detik. Tanpa terasa, detik demi detik terus berlalu

KISAH POHON APEL

October 13th, 2006 by florence8998

Apel_tree

Pohon apel sangat senang melihatnya datang. "Ayo bermain-main denganku lagi." kata pohon apel "Aku tak punya waktu," jawab anak lelaki itu. "Aku harus bekerja untuk keluargaku. Kami membutuhkan rumah untuk tempat tinggal. Maukah kau menolongku?"

An amazing Love Story

October 13th, 2006 by florence8998

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please, let me go home…. suddenly he asked the waiter. "would you please give me some salt? I’d like to put it in my coffee."
Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously; why you have this hobby? He replied: "when I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I like playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there". While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched.
That’s his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can tell out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, has responsibility of home. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story.
They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was such a good person but she almost missed him! Thanks to his salty coffee!
Then the story was just like every beautiful love story , the princess married to the prince, then they were living the happy life… And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee e, as she knew that’s the way he liked it.
After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said: "My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only lie I said to you—the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead.I never thought that could be the start of our communication! I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything..
Now I’m dying, I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don’t like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.. But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again".
Her tears made the letter totally wet.Someday, someone asked her: what’s the taste of salty coffee?
It’s sweet. She replied.
